Let’s Get On Our Feet!

August 4, 2017

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention reports that 1 out of 4 Americans do not engage in physical activity. Less than half perform the recommended 30 minutes a day.

Did you know that research shows that moderate activity for 30 minutes a day significantly improves your health? Activity slows the loss of muscle bulk, decreases joint pain, and builds bone. This is in addition to the benefits to your heart, blood pressure, and other complaints. Movement, and activity, improves your balance, mood, and even sleep!

You don’t have to run a marathon or 5K. You can simply walk briskly, catch a CitiBike, dance, swim, or even do housework.

Of course, please check with your medical physician or orthopaedist if you have any conditions that can limit your ability to get moving. Get their input if you haven’t exercised or been active in a while.
The benefits of moderate activity accumulate over time.

This week I want to highlight upcoming outdoor activities such as upcoming local races.

So let’s get moving and on our feet!
